Scaling new heights

2 Jul 2014

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) has named four regional winners for its annual Best Tall Building Awards.

The winner in the Asia & Australasia category is One Central Park (pictured) by Sekisui House Australia and Frasers Property, the international property arm of Singapore-listed Frasers Centrepoint Limited (FCL).

Located in Sydney, One Central Park is part of the Central Park project, a large-scale mixed-use development, and features a vertical garden and a unique heliostat design.

Lim Ee Seng, Group CEO of FCL, said, “We are proud that the One Central Park development is being recognised globally. The international accolades reflect the world-class standards and exquisite designs of FCL’s developments.”

Chicago-based CTBUH received 88 global submissions for the Best Tall Building awards, and the largest number of entries was from Asia. Finalists in the Asia & Australasia category include two Singapore condominiums, Ardmore Residence and The Interlace.

Jeanne Gang, awards jury chair and founding principal of Studio Gang Architects said, “The submissions this year reflect the incredible diversity of tall buildings being built around the world. Even more so, they reflect the dawning of a global recognition that tall buildings have a critical role to play in a rapidly changing climate and urban environment.”

The top winner for the “Best Tall Building Worldwide” will be picked from the four regional winners in November.

The annual awards recognise projects and individuals in areas of advancement of tall buildings and urban environment, as well as sustainability. In 2010, HDB’s Pinnacle @ Duxton was named Best Tall Building in Asia & Australasia by CTBUH.
