Lock+Store to open first overseas facility

2 Jul 2014

Lock+Store will open its first facility in Malaysia come October 2014.

12,000 sq ft of its mixed-use office and warehouse complex at Temasya Industrial Park in Shah Alam will be used for self-storage purposes.

Helen Ng, CEO of Lock+Store said, “The average self-storage user tends to be a relatively well-to-do individual. With incomes generally on an upward trend in Malaysia, especially in Greater Kuala Lumpur, the self-storage industry has a growing demand base on which it can tap.”

The move is also due to rising demand from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and personal storers in Greater Kuala Lumpur. As Glenmarie is one of Shah Alam’s prime commercial districts, Lock+Store will reach out to the SMEs located there.

Lock+Store Glenmarie will house about 200 self-storage units of varying sizes, ranging from 9 sq ft to 200 sq ft per unit.

Lock+Store is a subsidiary of Singapore Post Ltd, with storage facilities in Ayer Rajah Crescent, Chai Chee, Serangoon and Tanjong Pagar DistriPark.
