The Ministry of National Development (MND) received 402 pieces of written feedback on the Draft Master Plan 2013 during the exhibition period between 20 November and 19 December 2013.
Most of them were regarding housing and transport issues, while some were on issues such as economy, heritage, recreation and public spaces, MND said in response to a query at yesterday’s Parliament session.
“Overall, the feedback welcomed proposals to make Singapore a more liveable, endearing and sustainable home. These included proposals for more community, healthcare and commercial amenities, more parks and greenery, cycling and walking initiatives, identity nodes, and new residential areas and regional centres,” National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan said in a statement.
There were also feedback on local concerns, such as traffic congestion and lack of amenities. The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) will partner other agencies to address them.
Some feedback were incorporated into the plans where feasible. “We conducted one hearing where the feedback raised new matters which were substantive, which we required further clarifications on and which pertained to a new proposal in the Master Plan,” he added.
With the gazette of the Master Plan 2014 last month, the Draft Master Plan 2013 process has been completed. The year-long review of the Draft Master Plan 2013 also involved consultations with Members of Parliament (MPs), grassroots leaders, professional institutions and other stakeholders.
In an earlier statement, URA said the exhibition for the Draft Master Plan 2013 at the URA Centre Atrium attracted about 61,000 visitors.
