The Pang Sua Pond in Bukit Panjang will undergo a transformation under the PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) Programme.
A new boardwalk will be added to connect the pond to the neighbouring amenities. Two lookout decks will be built, along with a multi-purpose stage for performances.
Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan unveiled the project at a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday.
Construction will start in 3Q 2014 and is expected to complete by the second quarter of 2016. The project will cost $6.8 million according to media reports.
The Pang Sua Pond is a stormwater collection pond that collects runoff from the surrounding areas before it is pumped to the Upper Seletar Reservoir for storage.
Over the next five years by PUB, 15 other projects have been identified for implementation. The ABC Waters Programme was launched by PUB in 2006 to transform Singapore’s water bodies beyond their utilitarian purpose into beautiful and clean streams, rivers and lakes.
