SMU to foster urban farming

Two plots of land within the Singapore Management University (SMU)’s city campus will be used for urban farming as part of its GROW initiative.

Launched yesterday, the programme aims to grow a garden of food through environmentally-friendly ways, and bring together people from all walks of life to build a green and sustainable community.

Besides highlighting urban eco practices which protect the environment and sustainable farming, the GROW programme also aims to share knowledge on eating right.

Additionally, the programme seeks to create global awareness on environmentalism, food production, and consumption and security. At the same time, it hopes to promote sustainable urban living, and provide for underprivileged members in the community.
