Residents in Upper Thomson can look forward to a new nature park when the 75-hectare Windsor Nature Park is ready.
Located off Venus Drive, the site is largely forested and the National Parks Board (NParks) intends to sensitively enhance the forest habitats and restore existing trails. 100 native trees were planted at the site of the new Windsor Park as part of reforestation efforts.
Another enhancement is the inclusion of boardwalks to complement existing trails. The total trail length in the park will be 4.1 km. Basic amenities such as restrooms and shelters will also be built. Works for the site is targeted to start in mid-2015 and to be completed by end 2016.
Upcoming projects near Windsor Nature Park include Thomson Three, Thomson Grand, and Three 11.
Windsor Nature Park is also one of four new nature parks which will serve as green buffers to the Central Catchment Nature Reserve (CCNR).
These parks, which include Springleaf, Chestnut and Thomson Nature Parks, will help to reduce visitorship pressure on the nature reserves by providing interesting alternative venues for the public to enjoy nature-related activities.
