Residents of premium Design, Build and Sell Scheme (DBSS) project Centrale 8 can still file defects on their units at an on-site centre after the developer had extended its operation period.
In a report by The Straits Times, developer Sim Lian Group said the project’s Building Services Centre will close by the end of this month and the defects will then be managed by the developer’s office after that.
Yesterday, however, the developer confirmed that it will extend the operations of the centre, with “more details to follow”.
“We hear the concerns raised by homeowners of Centrale 8. We are working very closely with the task force and progress updates will be shared with all homeowners in a timely and appropriate manner,” said a spokesman, as cited in the report.
Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng, who also chairs the Tampines Town Council, said residents feel more assured if “there’s a physical presence of the developer on-site.” However, residents should also play their part by submitting the defect rectification form properly, he added.
Notably, residents of more than 350 units sent a petition to Sim Lian requesting the developer, among others, to keep the centre open till end-December. A copy of the petition was also sent to Tampines GRC MPs.
Residents of the development complained of various defects such as uneven tiles, choked toilets and rusty door handles after collecting the keys to their units from June 2014.
As such, a task force was set up to look into the issues raised by the residents. Led by Tampines Central Citizens Consultative Committee Chairman Gerald Lim, the task force comprises members of the committee as well as representatives from agencies like the Housing Board and the town council.
