Technology giant Google has emerged as the top company Singaporeans aspire to work at, according to a survey by JobStreet.com.

Apple and Singapore Airlines round out the top three. The remaining contenders on the list include Facebook, Shell, ExxonMobil, Microsoft, Changi Airport Group, Proctor & Gamble, and Keppel Corporation.

The survey results aim to help companies learn best practices, and the factors that make them so successful.

Google’s top ranking is hardly surprising. It is ranked number one on Fortune’s Best Companies to Work for list, a position it has held seven times.

“It houses a cafeteria called Goopitiam, and its menu changes every day. Free meals, casual dress codes and extensive benefits are just some of the perks employees get to enjoy,” said the job search portal.

The survey also found that salary is no longer the most important factor employees consider when deciding to take up a job offer. Instead, 72 percent of respondents voted work culture, management and leadership as the most important factor.

This was followed by benefits and incentives, such as performance-based bonuses, healthcare insurance, as well as car and housing loans.

Salary was rated third most important. Other factors include support and training, promotion prospects and work-life balance.

Carried out in January, the survey polled about 1,300 respondents working in different sectors such as administration, accounting, engineering and media communications.

Meanwhile, JobStreet has launched a new feature called Company Reviews, to help match job seekers with employers. Existing employees can post comments about their workplace, which offer insights to prospective candidates on what it’s like working inside the company.

“Such insights, which were previously unavailable or only heard through the grapevine, allow them to make better-informed decisions that will impact their long-term career goals,” shared JobStreet.
