New appointment to APREA Singapore board.

The Asia Pacific Real Estate Association (APREA) has announced the appointment of Loh Wai Keong to its Singapore chapter board.

Loh is the Managing Director and Co-Head of Asia (Real Estate) at GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund.

“Wai Keong’s extensive experience in real estate investment across AsiaPac will bring on board tremendous perspectives and thought leadership that will serve APREA’s mission,” said Andy Tan Chye Guan, Chairman of APREA’s Singapore chapter and CEO, Generali Real Estate Asia.

The non-profit organisation actively works with regional governments to open up new real estate markets for investment.

“APREA collaborates closely with many governments, institutional investors and professionals to deepen markets and improve the rules for doing business across the region, which translates into greater real estate investment opportunities,” noted Tan.

He cited APREA’s recent advocacy for REITs in India as an example of the potential to expand the real estate universe.

He also believes that a faster-growing real estate market in Asia Pacific would support Singapore as a regional hub.

“Singapore is a highly-respectable marketplace, with an impressive track record as a centre of financial and real estate expertise, which means a larger regional investment pie will benefit the local industry.”

Aside from Singapore, APREA also hosts chapters in China, India, Japan, Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

Its members include prominent real estate stakeholders, including pension, insurance and sovereign wealth funds, investment managers, family offices and developers.
