China’s best developers and developments will once again be honoured at the third annual China Property Awards, organised by PropertyGuru Group.

Developers and current projects in major cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen are eligible for the Awards, which was officially launched in Hong Kong last Thursday (28 July).

There are categories for Best Residential and Best Commercial Developments for each city, plus accolades for the Best Green Development and a Special Recognition in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Separately, the Hong Kong & Macau Awards will honour the territories’ Best Ultra Luxury Condo, Best Luxury Condo, Best Housing Development, Best Retail Development, Best Office Development, Best Hotel Development, Best Mixed-Use Development and Best Green Development.

Trevor Vivian, Global Director of design firm Benoy and Chairman of the judging panel said: “The major advantage of developers in China is their delivery of large developments in short time frames. They have been quick learners and the quality of work has improved greatly, especially in the first-tier cities.”

Meanwhile, there will be two recipients for the highest honours of the year, one for Best Developer (China) and one for Best Developer (Hong Kong & Macau).

In addition, the editors of Property Report magazine will award the Real Estate Personality of the Year to an individual who has contributed significantly to China’s burgeoning property sector in the past year. It will be the only award that is not selected by the judging panel.

Despite the turbulence of the slowing Chinese economy, the ongoing cooling measures in Hong Kong and first-tier cities, and a significant decline in property values in Macau, China real estate is still one of the biggest in the world.

“Don’t count China out – some of Asia Pacific’s best developments can be found here,” said Terry Blackburn, Founder and Managing Director of the Asia Property Awards and Property Report, which became part of PropertyGuru in 2016.

Nominations are now being accepted until 2 September at asiapropertyawards.com/nomination/china/. Submissions can come from developers, consumers and the general public.

The finalists will be announced towards the end of October, while the winners will be revealed on 1 November at a gala dinner in JW Marriott Hong Kong.

Also debuting on 1 November is the Property Report Congress China, a high-level conference featuring regional experts and Asia Property Award winners who will talk about investment opportunities for Chinese investors in Southeast Asia. The whole-day conference will take place right before the awards ceremony.
