Developers know how to make even the most jaded property buyer go weak at the knees. Take one portion of luxury fixtures and another of quality fittings, add a large dollop of open space, sprinkle with premium white goods and season with good light, and you have the perfect recipe for condo kitchen success.
Amber Skye in Tanjong Katong makes this admixture particularly well. Throughout its 116 one to four bedroom apartments and villas, kitchens are wall-to-floor covered in porcelain, making cleaning a cinch.
They have added stainless steel sinks on stone surface-tops and laid them between built-in high and low cabinets and the rather excellent Smeg brand oven and fridge.
The spaces are large and well thought through. In the three bedrooms and above, you can cook together with as many as three people at once, making a dining occasion that little bit more convivial. The kitchens lead to a yard area and a utility room that can double as a bedroom for a maid.
If not, you also have a pantry layered with the same porcelain flooring to store canned goods.
Just down the road at Marina Blue, a very interesting price comparison (Marine Blue at $1,808 psf against Amber Skye’s $2,262) and location comparison (Marine Blue is within walking distance to the upcoming Marine Parade MRT station versus Amber Skye in a private estate enclave) later, and you get some pretty amazing kitchen action.
Its 120 apartments over three blocks of 16 to 17 storeys and strata terraces come with some fabulous cooking spaces replete with De Dietrich brand fridge, induction stove and hood, microwave oven, baking oven and a washing machine with dryer, as well as IXISS taps and mixers.
This would mean nothing if the layout and usable space did not deliver, but Marine Blue is beautifully laid out, with the Double Suite Type B1 (97sqm), for example, bigger than many three bedroom units in other developments and an open plan kitchen with its own working space and island serving as a partition to the living area.
For even more lavishness, the 180 units of 26 Newton – comprising one to two bedroom apartments and penthouses – are designed and built to a very high standard and exude contemporary style.
Simple lines and the no fuss architecture not only make the most of the available space, but make these modern apartments the height of class and sophistication. The inclusion of top brands for the fixtures and fittings backs this up, and as for facilities it comes with everything you would expect from a 21st century condo: fully integrated kitchens come with Bontempi and Scholtes appliances, fixtures and fittings; LEMA storage system and JUNG intelligent automation systems.
And while luxury kitchens can be found at many other developments across town, we thought we’d end off with one of the most extravagant, even though it isn’t a condo: Belgravia Villas.
