Cambodia Property Awards press event

Press conference held in Phnom Penh to announce the official shortlist of the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards 2017.

11 leading property developers have been shortlisted for the second annual PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards 2017, with master developer Shukaku leading the race with a total of five nominations.

Over 30 projects in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville have joined this year’s competition, with the winners and highly commended developers set to be announced at a black-tie gala dinner on 24 March at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra.

The winners from Cambodia will move forward to compete in the regional grand finals at the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, which takes place in Singapore in November.

“We’re delighted to be back in Cambodia for a second year to promote the best projects and help property seekers in identifying the best developers to target for their dream homes and property investments,” said PropertyGuru Group CEO Hari V. Krishnan.

Meanwhile, the competition’s head judge, Sorn Seap, who is also Vice President of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association, revealed that astonishing growth in the kingdom’s property market over the last 10 years has made it very attractive for Asian investors.

In 2007, there were only two high-rise buildings in Phnom Penh, but now there are hundreds across the city. Land prices have also soared by up to 70 percent in the last decade, with certain projects valued between US$3,500 and US$4,500 per sq m, he noted.
