More than 500 property seekers visited PropertyGuru’s Malaysia Property Show held over the weekend of 25 and 26 March 2017 at the Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. The event showcased various prime residential and commercial properties from across the causeway. Several industry experts were also on hand to discuss prospects and predictions for the country’s property market.
The show opened with a keynote address from Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore, Dato’ Ilango Karuppannan, who shared that the country’s property sector is set to grow further due to good economic fundamentals.
The seminars that followed covered a wide range of topics, including how to maximise your rental income yield as well as the latest updates on property financing, government policies and foreign investment laws.
“Singapore-based investors generally prefer investing in Johor Bahru residences, transit-oriented developments or developments close to resorts or tourist attractions,” said Susan Tan, Sales Manager at Sime Darby Property, one of the participating developers.
Riding the EC wave
Separately, PropertyGuru organised a Guru Talk seminar on 8 April at the Northwave showflat in Woodlands for Singaporeans looking to buy executive condominium (EC) units. Guru Talk is a series of knowledge empowerment seminars that aim to provide “Guru Views” on the property market.
The latest seminar, held in partnership with property developer Hao Yuan Investment, drew more than 100 prospective buyers looking for a clearer picture on the EC market from industry experts Nizam Gafoor, Senior Associate Group District Director at PropNex Realty, and Eugene Lim, Key Executive Officer at ERA Realty Network.
Gafoor provided an overview of the sales performance of EC projects in 2016 and the key drivers for purchasing these units, which are a public-private housing hybrid. On the other hand, Lim offered a comparative analysis of EC transactions in Woodlands, followed by a comparison of EC and mass market condo projects located in various estates in the northern region.
Guru Talk attendees also got to enjoy event-only discounts of up to $8,000 off selected units at Northwave EC.
