Pasir Ris Town Centre will be transformed into a vibrant hub with an integrated bus interchange, a new Heritage Garden and partly-sheltered Town Plaza.
Under the Remaking Our Heartland (ROH) programme, residents of Pasir Ris can look forward to about 2,000 new HDB flats and a new mixed-use project at the town centre, revealed the Housing and Development Board (HDB) on Saturday (29 April).
Situated next to Pasir Ris Park, the public housing developments are expected to be launched in the next three to five years and will come with a wide range of amenities and multi-generational facilities.
“For seamless connectivity, these will be integrated with a proposed Central Greenway with elevated cycling/pedestrian paths, providing direct connection from the town centre to Pasir Ris Park,” said HDB in a statement.
As for the Pasir Ris Town Centre, it will be transformed into a vibrant hub with the construction of a new commercial and residential development integrated with a bus interchange. It will also feature a new Heritage Garden and partly-sheltered Town Plaza, where residents can hold large-scale activities and events.
Meanwhile, more recreational facilities and play spaces will be installed in Pasir Ris Park and Beach, including sand play areas along the seashore, while the authorities intend to revamp the existing pavilions and toilet facilities at the park.
At the Pasir Ris Town Park, a new hawker centre will open later this year. The upcoming dining venue will house one kiosk, 41 stalls and more than 500 seating spaces. The park will also get a new playground with more outdoor seating and better facilities, like a landscaped multi-generational fitness area.
The town’s four existing neighbourhood centres will also be enhanced. For instance, Pasir Ris West Plaza and Elias Mall will get recreational facilities and new seating areas, among others.
Likewise, five out of the seven Neighbourhood Parks in Pasir Ris will be refreshed with the injection of new multi-generational facilities and better landscaping. The five are Brontosaur Park, Green Oval Park, Seashell Park, Park Aquaria and an open space at Loyang. The remaining two, Atlantis Park and Time Park, are currently being upgraded under the Neighbourhood Renewal Programme and both are targeted to reopen by end-2017.
The ROH proposals for the area are currently being showcased at the Pasir Ris town centre until 14 May so that the residents can view and give their feedback on the plans. The public may also view the proposals at www.hdb.gov.sg/ROH and share their comments online.
