Dear Agents,

Why do so many HDB resale listings not have a floor plan? Why do so many listings not have a proper video (not a photo collage but actual walk-through). Why do some listings not have even proper photos, or no photos at all?

We buyers are paying 6 digits for a property and you are getting 4-5 digits worth of commission. Please post listings that have a higher standard than the ones on Carousell.

Floor plans are the basic information when I wish to buy an apartment. If it's not even present, I just close the ad immediately.

Dear annoyed buyer,

Thank you for your feedback and I do share your sentiments on some of the listings found on the various portals. As a practising agent myself, I must clarify that your conclusion on u being paid 4-5 digits worth of commission is not entirely correct. There are many home sellers who are unwilling to even pay 1% of the selling price for commission and also expects the agents to absorb the GST, and therefore marketing costs will definitely be affected for such listings. A simple HDB video tour will set us back by $700 or more for a proper one, and HDB floor plan does not come free of charge too.

Similarly, a buyer has the option not to go through such state of annoyance where they can engage the services of an agent for the purchase and leave the shortlisting of units and appointment fixing to the professional.
