Hi, my wife is second ownership for hdb with her parents. In process of selling the house to removed her name. I wish to buy a resale near my parents as i am a first time buyer. Do i get the same grant for married couple or single scheme grants?

You do not get the same grant as married couples, if your wife has already enjoyed her share of grant if she has purchased the current flat direct from HDB or obtained any housing grant for her current flat. You may still be eligible for your side of the grant. In fact it is best to speak to HDB on this matter and grant eligibility will be subjective to the individual income too.

Hi there, in normal case, you should be entitled to half family grant, but there are exception where HDB will grant you the full amount. Hi,

If your wife has already enjoyed housing grants once before or her parents place is a BTO bought direct from HDB, it will mean she has enjoyed housing subsidy once. This means which you guys buy another flat together, only half housing grant will be applicable for your case (half of the 1st timer grants for married couple).

Hi Sir,

It depends on whether the HDB that your wife own is a subsidized HDB. If it is not or the subsidy is tied to your in laws, then it is still possible for you to get the full grant.

Second ownership doesn't mean she is not eligible for any Grants. It depends on whether did she take any Grants for her first flat purchase.
