Home owners are not allowed to put up their listings for rent. Only licensed realtors with paid subscriptions will be allowed to put up listings. In fact it is highly encouraged to engage the services of agents to work on getting tenants these days as many tenants I have met have preferred to go through listings represented by agents nowadays due to the number of scam cases for rental.
Since commission is only payable when there is a successful transaction, you may actually build in the commission into the monthly rental so that the tenants are ultimately the ones paying for the commission while you get to enjoy the services from professionals which include mandatory checks on the tenants background. This greatly reduces the risks on your end too as a landlord.
I have been in the real estate business since 2009, with more than 13 years of experience serving the Singapore real estate market.
