is the commission sharing for the company fixed?

Do you mean the commission schemes?
There are different practises between the different agencies, nevertheless, most established agencies start of their fresh associates with 70/30 scheme (associate 70% agency 30%). I have heard of smaller agencies enticing associates to join them with 99% or even 100% schemes.
I believe most importantly what we should look at in the interest of our business is the opportunities available. I can have zero sales but on 100% commission scheme but $150k sales on 90% scheme.

The commission is different ranging from different companies. Most of the major real estate firms start from 70/30 and some start from 80/20 and you will also be amazed that many starts straight from 90/10. There are also many firms that start from 95/5 and even 100/0! Unbelievable isn't it?
I have spoken to many aspiring realtors like yourself and I tell all of them the same thing. Commission split is definitely not the most important factor. Especially for new realtors, the crux of the matter is not how much is the split but most importantly is when will we be closing our first deal. The sums are simple, 70% of $10,000 is $7,000 and 100% of $0 is still $0. So do look into more factors such as the company support and products and also the group that you are joining.
Maybe we can meet up for a coffee and I can share a little more with you. No worries as there are no obligations at all. I will also share with you a sales system that our group have started and this has helped many of my team mates to close more and earn more. By the way this is not a SOP recruitment message, I will show you the system and you will understand what I am trying to say.
