My condo unit concealed water piping leaked to the units downstairs causing damage to their ceiling. They are asking me to pay the repair for it. When the property management approach me to isolate the problem I immediately cooperated. They closed my water inflow and the leak downstairs stopped. But how will I know that there are leaks. You wouldn't expect me to hack my wall everytime to check for leaks. So I don't consider it negligence since I cooperated immediately when they approached me. Who should be responsible for the below floors damages? I told the property management, if this happens to the topmost floor and damages everything below... he will end up renovating the entire building which I think is not right.
