12 Oct 2009

Keppel Land, the residential and commercial property arm of Keppel Group, received five Green Mark for Buildings awards from the Building and Construction Authority.

The second phase of the Marina Bay Financial Centre won a Gold Plus award, while the Avenue Residences, Marina Bay Suites, Sixth Avenue Residences, One Raffles Quay and The Promont received Golds. Keppel Land earns a total of 12 Green Mark awards under its belt.

The first Keppel Land project to receive a Green Mark Gold award was The Tresor, a residential property. Since then, the developer has been a consistent Green Mark awardee. Its second Gold award was conferred to Marina Bay Residences in 2007 and five more awards followed in 2008. Among the winning projects were the Ocean Financial Centre, the first office building in the Central Business District to win a Platinum Green Mark award; The Estella, a property in Vietnam; the first phase of the Marina Bay Financial Centre; Reflections at Keppel Bay; and Madison Residences.

Aside from its operations in Singapore, Keppel also operates in other Asian countries, including China, India and Indonesia. The company has been fond of green design since the 1970s. Greeneries, landscapes, roof gardens and water recycling facilities became the regular staples of Keppel brands. Keppel’s signature design is based on the principles of energy conservation and environmentally-friendly architecture.

Sustainable design not only benefits the environment but the tenants as well. Energy-saving features and recycling facilities help tenants cut water and energy expenses. Green design also brings intangible benefits such as cleaner indoor air and safer workplace, said a Keppel spokesman.
