Keppel Land launches the Keppel Bay Sailing Academy (KBSA), the first and only sailing training facility accredited by the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), at Marina, Keppel Bay
According to Keppel Land, the extension to the Marina is a natural occurrence as the company undergoes expansion. CEO Augustine Tan remarked, “Keppel Land is the only real estate developer in Singapore who plans to holistically by having a marina as part of the land infrastructure.”
James Stevens, chief examiner of RYA, commented that the facility met the basic requirements and even surpassed the standards of the Association. “We are really pleased to be awarding RYA recognition to our first training centre in Singapore. People training at KBSA can now be sure they are receiving world class training,” he said.
Since Singapore is surrounded by waters, KBSA principal Richard Falk wishes that the school would eventually become the center of marine leisure industry not only in the country but in the entire South-east Asia.
KBSA can accommodate up to 300 students and it has the newest facilities in marine leisure training, including two (2) Beneteau First 40.7 yachts.
Tan Thong Meng, the country’s only RYA-accredited Yachtmaster Offshore instructor, assists Mr. Falk by filling in the vice-principal duties.
Mister Tan commented in an interview that he believes in KBSA and its ideals in promoting Singapore as a sailing sports center and host for world-class events.
