The world’s real estate sector has borne the burden of today’s sub-prime fallout through troubled times.
However, organisers of the current Cityscape Asia exhibition and conference say that this year will be the start for investors to pick up undervalued assets from economies of regions rising from the global financial crisis.
Cityscape Asia is an annual conference, exhibition, and special networking events which focus on all facets of the real estate development cycle. The event which attracts all professionals involved in the real estate industry provides a yearly discussion about real estate, urban planning, design, and architecture from around the world.
This year’s Cityscape Asia, which is held in Singapore, will examine long-standing topics such as the retail scene in Asia, green investments, and Asian real estate investment trusts (REITs).
With the global financial crisis, the real estate investment market saw further reduction of market volume in this year’s first quarter. Yet analysts are starting to see opportunities as Asia and the rest of the world rides out the crisis.
“Established firms, family enterprises and individuals with cash reserves, limited debt and an appetite for risk are expected to be among the first to begin searching the Asian market for bargains in the coming months,” Group Exhibition Director of Cityscape, Graham Wood, said.
“Although the regional real estate investment market in Q1 2009 was relatively quiet and despite the fact that the market will continue to be challenged by the economic environment for the rest of 2009, we believe there are still potential investment opportunities in the region in the coming quarters,” Piers Brunner, COO for Colliers Asia, said in a recent inaugural Asia-Pacific investment market overview report.
One market however, will be much argued in this coming Cityscape Asia is China. “In current times, the brightest light glows in China with the economy seeing a huge inventory adjustment,” said DTZ, a global real estate adviser.
Real estate professionals from the US and Europe will also be at Cityscape Asia to look for Asian investors.
