Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, along with singer/songwriter friend Emil Chau have acquired properties in Singapore during their visit to the city state.
The two known personalities purchased four apartment units at Lippo Group’s Centennia Suites project amounting to more than $10 million. The four units are located on the mid to high floors of the 36-storey freehold project, which is being built on the former Kim Seng Plaza site.
Mr. Chan picked up three units – two-, three-, and four-room units – comprising the entire floor.
Mr. Chau, on the other hand, purchased a three-bedroom unit.
The two men visited the Centennia Suites showflat last Friday.
The 97-unit freehold condo project, which is expected to be completed in the next three years, is now almost half sold.
The average price of each unit is about $2,000 psf to $2,100 psf, and the range of the prices achieved is between $1,900 psf and $2,200 psf. The project developer began selling the units last month.
Mr. Chan is not new to the Singapore property market. In late 2007, the actor purchased the former Jinriksha Station at Neil Road for about $11 million.
Lippo Group and Mr. Chan have also had business dealings before. He used to own a unit at Grangeford Apartments, which he sold to Lippo’s listed arm Overseas Union Enterprise through a collective sale just a few years ago.
