Singapore-China business ties to strengthen

17 May 2010

Ties between Singapore and China will be strengthened as the Chinese economy continues to grow, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew during the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China (SingCham) event in Beijing.

Before Mr. Lee gave his statement, members and guest of SingCham observed a minute of silence to remember Singapore’s late former deputy prime minister Dr. Goh Keng Swee.

Minister Mentor Lee announced that there are many business opportunities available in China for Singaporeans.

"Their links with us will grow, organizations here like SingCham will also grow. And having a good organization here will make them come and make new entrance in Singapore," he said.

As the two countries celebrate their 20th year of bilateral relations, SingaCham is negotiating with the Singapore Business Federation to set up a Singapore Business Center@SingCham. This will help link Singapore companies in China back into the country, as well as help more local companies venture into China.
