Resorts World Sentosa will be opening four fine-dining restaurants owned by celebrity chefs, and the first in line is a Japanese outlet, which opened yesterday.
Kunio Tokuoka is the first Japanese chef with a Michelin star rating to open a restaurant in the country, and the restaurant is his first project outside Japan.
"Singapore is a place where many talents gather and it’s an opportunity for me to offer a new style of Japanese cuisine to the gathered talents here. I think it’d be really exciting,” said Kunio Tokuoka.
"I want to analyse the term ‘delicious’ and try combining Singapore food and culture with Japanese food and culture. I want to see what I can come up with and I think it’ll be a new adventure."
But a stir of excitement is always paired with difficulties.
"In Singapore, it’s hard to get all the ingredients as they don’t produce such cuisine. I’ve searched all over and ended up finding everything in Japan. So I’ve had to import everything from Japan,” he added.
A seven-course Japanese meal ranges from S$300 to S$750.
