The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City Investment and Development firm has signed another three industrial land deals, involving over one billion yuan (S$203.9 million) in investments in the Eco Industrial Park and the Eco Business Park.

Tianjin House Construction Development Group Co Ltd, one of the largest eco-building-materials companies in China, intends to invest 300 million yuan to develop low carbon and energy-efficient green buildings in the Eco-Business Park to house the first sustainable housing R&D institute in the country.

Keppel DHCS, Keppel Integrated Engineering’s wholly owned subsidiary, plans to operate and develop a district heating and cooling system in the park.

Sichuan Neautus Traditional Chinese Medicine will also invest 500 million yuan for the processing and dissemination of Chinese herbal medicine for Northern and Eastern China, as well as export markets.

Tianjin Eco City also announced a strategic partnership with three leading companies in the eco technology field – Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Electronics), Japanese firm Hitachi Group and Chinese firm Envision.

“This will complement the eco development needs of Tianjin Eco-City and create high quality job opportunities to draw new residents into the Eco-City,” said Goh Chye Boon, CEO of Tianjin Eco City, commenting on the steady stream of investors into the Eco City.

Tianjin Eco City also signed a nine-billion-yuan deal with one of the top developers in Malaysia, Sunway City Bhd (SunCity), for the development of an integrated LOHAS (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) community.

This joint venture, which includes mid- to high-rise apartments, retail malls, schools and premium waterfront villas, will have over 0.7 million sq m of gross floor area that can house about 5,000 households. It will also include unique features like green houses for organic farming, hydroponic gardens, youth parks and green spas. Earlier, Sunway had indicated an estimated price of about RM500 (S$215) psf for the SunCity houses in the Tianjin Eco-City.

The Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco City is a joint development between the Singapore consortium led by the Keppel Group and the Chinese consortium led by Tianjin TEDA Investment Holding Co Ltd.
