Keppel Land to strengthen focus in China

30 Sep 2010

Keppel Land Limited, the property arm of Keppel Corp, has announced it will strengthen its focus in China through Keppel Land China Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary that is being set up to operate and own all of Keppel Land’s assets in China.

With Keppel Group’s strong network and track record in 20 Chinese cities, Keppel Land currently owns a total gross floor area (GFA) of 5.3 million sq m, which translates to more than 40,000 homes in residential, township and waterfront developments.

Keppel Land is also an investor and developer-cum-project manager for the Keppel development in the Singapore-China government project, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City.

“China is one of our strongest and most important markets. With Keppel Land China, we will be even more nimble to capture value in such a vast and fast growing market,” said Mr. Kevin Wong, Group CEO of Keppel Land.

“Keppel Land’s experience in masterplanning and developing townships and prime residential developments will contribute to sustainable, urban living solutions which are in rising demand there. We will also leverage our strong Singapore experience in developing prime commercial properties to actively look for opportunities in China to build on our sterling portfolio,” added Mr. Wong.

Mr. Choo Chiau Beng will be appointed as chairman of Keppel Land China, while Mr. Kevin Wong will be the Deputy Chairman.

Mr. Ho Cheok Kong, who currently manages China operations, will be re-assigned as President (China), while Mr. Ang Wee Gee, who will be appointed as Executive Vice Chairman, will helm Keppel Land China.
