Tiong Seng unit to build prefab hub in Tuas

Robin Village Developments, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tiong Seng Holdings, is building a $26 million prefab hub in Tuas to supply precast concrete components.

This move follows the government’s call for higher productivity through wider adoption of precast construction methods.

The 19,000-sq-m hub is the first facility of its kind to receive funding from the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) construction productivity and capability fund. It is expected to be completed in Q3 this year, and will feature advanced precasting facilities that will increase Tiong Seng’s current annual output to over 100,000 cubic metres of precast components.

“Tiong Seng prefab hub is developed with an ‘integrated hub concept’ in mind, incorporating our precast production capabilities, formwork assembly and maintenance, training and research, as well as gracious living for our workers all under one roof. Our clients can expect timely deliveries and consistently higher quality products,” said Pek Lian Guan, CEO of Tiong Seng.

The prefab hub will also allow Tiong Seng to benefit from opportunities coming from the government’s drive towards higher productivity in the industry.

“Prefab components will not only ensure higher quality and consistency, but will (also) go a long way towards ensuring higher productivity for the construction sector. We are glad that Tiong Seng has taken the step to pioneer this integrated prefab hub,” said John Keung, chief executive of the BCA.
