CapitaLand Commercial Ltd (CCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Limited, has appointed Chong Lit Cheong as the new chief executive officer, effective 10 February 2011. He will replace Mr. Ee Chee Hong, who will assume a new appointment within the CapitaLand Group upon his return from a six-month sabbatical leave.

The Group is continuing its efforts to acquire quality sites after divesting eight aging commercial buildings in 2006 and 2007 at unsurpassed prices. Lit Cheong has a long, proven track record in Singapore and overseas, and with his considerable experience and fresh perspective, will lead our commercial business to ride the next growth cycle,” said Liew Mun Leong, president & chief executive officer of CapitaLand Group.
Mr. Chong will oversee the company’s commercial properties in Singapore, as well as oversee the company’s overseas market, including Japan, India and Malaysia. Prior to his work at CapitaLand, Mr. Chong was the chief executive officer of International Enterprise Singapore, a government agency under Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry. He also worked as the CEO of JTC Corporation, and was the Managing Director of the National Science and Technology Board, which is now known as A*STAR. He also served in the Singapore Economic Development Board and led the development of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park project.
Mr. Chong holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) from the University of Tokyo and is a Mombusho (Colombo Plan) Scholar. He also completed the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD in France in 1994 and the Tsinghua Executive Program in China in 2004.
