Newly registered home units in Greater Bangkok rose 10 percent in the first 10 months of last year to approximately 80,000 units from 72,950 units over the same period in 2009, according to data released by Thailand’s Real Estate Information Centre (REIC).
Of the newly registered units, 46,800 homes were located in Bangkok, while the remaining units were located in neighbouring provinces such as Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Prakan.
Samma Kitsin, director-general of REIC, said there were 8,700 newly registered units in October 2010, out of which 6,200 were in Bangkok. The latest figure indicated a 21 percent decline from September 2010 but rose 12 percent from October 2009.
According to Bangkok Post newspaper, newly registered condominiums in the first 10 months of last year reached 40,850, up 6 percent over the same period in 2009. However, 13,400 of them were units from the National Housing Authority or the Baan Ua-arthorn low-cost housing projects.
About 36 percent of the registered condominiums were developed by non-listed property developers, 33 percent from the Baan Ua-arthorn projects, and 31 percent from listed developers.
Meanwhile, the total number of newly registered single detached houses reached 25,300 in the first 10 months of 2010, up 4 percent over the same period in 2009. Out of the total figure, 11,100 were townhouses, 1,800 were shophouses, and 950 were duplex houses.
