Various organisations have signed agreements to invest in the upcoming Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.

Japanese company Hitachi will be establishing a Hitachi Smart City R&D Centre within the city, focusing on matters relevant to the establishment of “smart cities” in China, including energy management, common IT platforms and renewable energy.

Hitachi plans to make the centre its research and development facility for smart city planning in China. The company will carry out a feasibility study to create a detailed plan.

Meanwhile, Suzhou Industrial Park Neighbourhood Center Management Co will be developing and operating multi-functional neighbourhood centres in the Knowledge City. The neighbourhood centres aim to create vibrant communities by offering residents recreation, retail, healthcare, sports, education and government services.

Singapore’s National Library Board (NLB), on the other hand, will be lending its expertise on the establishment of a modern library system
