Starwood Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel and leisure companies, has announced the upcoming opening of The Naka Island, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, in November 2011.

Situated in the southernmost province just off the coast of Phuket in Thailand, The Naka Island is a private boutique resort on Naka Yai Island, comprising 67 villas fitted with tropical gardens and private plunge pools, along with a world-class spa facility.

“We are thrilled to introduce The Naka Island, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Phuket to people with a sense of adventure who want to escape from everything and experience something truly unique, private and memorable,” said Wayne Buckingham, Regional Vice President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia).

“The Naka Island is a beautiful hidden treasure of luxury — located away from everything but far from nothing.”

Located just 25 minutes from Phuket International Airport, the island is only 100 sq km in size and is easily navigable on foot or by bicycle. It features the area’s biggest five-star luxury spa and exclusive access to pristine and untouched sandy beaches.

The Naka Island also offers huge 450 sq m villas featuring décor and architecture reflecting the native culture and island surroundings. Each villa is equipped with spacious outdoor areas, private plunge pools, open-air bathrooms and Sala pavilions.

In addition, The Naka Island features various restaurants and lounge bars that serve Thai cuisine and other flavours of the region. These include Tonsai, an all-day dining restaurant, My Grill, an open beachside grill house and Z Bar, which has an extensive wine cellar.
