A couple in their 80s are now battling in court for the rights to a bungalow worth S$20 million at Chancery Lane, according to an AsiaOne report.
The 85-year old husband, Mr See Fong Mun and his wife, 88-year old Madam Chan Yuen Lan, bought the house in 1983 under Madam Chan’s name.
However, her husband paid for the property and was also legally authorised to manage it.
But last year, Madam Chan revoked Mr See’s power of attorney and appointed her younger son and daughter as the new managers.
This led Mr See to file a case in court, claiming that his wife was only holding the property on trust on his behalf. In addition, he argued that his younger son influenced her to withdraw his rights to the property.
Mr See also feels that his wife has not been well for many years and is in no position to revoke his power of attorney.
