A-mei's former pad sets new sales record

4 Mar 2013

By Nikki De Guzman:

A luxury apartment formerly owned by Taiwanese pop singer Chang Hui-mei or commonly known as A-mei (pictured) has been sold for NT$345.2 million (S$14.6 million), setting the highest record price on Taiwan’s real-value home registration website, according to media reports.

Located in the Xinyi District of the capital Taipei, the property has been sold three times. In July 2010, it was sold by the singer for NT$240 million (S$10 million) to the chairman of a technology company. It was later sold to Chuang Wen-yang, a China-based Taiwanese businessman who runs cosmetics brand “T-Joy”.

The property’s value has risen 43.8 percent over the past two-and-a-half years to NT$100 million (S$4.19 million) or NT$600,000 (S$25,151.25) a ping. Each ping is equivalent to 3.3 sq m.

Meanwhile, the full transaction prices of several prime properties have been disclosed following the introduction of the government’s real-value registration system. To date, two apartment units — one in Fubon Jiuchuang in Dazhi, Chungshan District and the other in Shengyang Kuopao in Xinyi — have been transacted at NT$340 million (S$14.25 million) each.

A-mei’s former property was sold in November 2012 and was registered in January this year, but its price was only disclosed after the Lunar New Year.

Data from the system shows that the unit has an area of 171.9 pings and an additional 56.8 pings for its three parking spaces, sold for NT$5 million (S$209,683) a piece.
