Hong Leong Group has reported that their properties in China were not affected by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Lushan in Sichuan last week.
However, tremors were felt at the Hotel Chengdu, a Millennium & Copthorne (M&C) hotel, although there was no damage to the building. M&C is the London-listed subsidiary of City Developments Limited (CDL) and a member of Hong Leong Group Singapore.
“We continue to remain vigilant and are in close contact with our China counterparts,” said Gerry De Silva, Head of Group Corporate Affairs for Hong Leong Group Singapore.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this latest earthquake in Sichuan. We are committed to helping the people of Sichuan.”
Meanwhile, the group’s remaining properties in China were not affected by the quake, and one project, the third phase of the Millennium Waterfront residential project in Chengdu which was launched on the same day, sold out 87 out of the 276 units released.
