Turkey to see more interest

15 Apr 2013

By Andrew Batt:

Just one Singaporean national purchased property in Turkey during the last 11 months according to data provided by the country’s General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre.

Some 9,990 of a total of 12,512 houses and plots of land were purchased by non-Turkish citizens between May 18, 2012 and April 11, 2013. Citizens of Germany, Russia and England topped the list of overseas property buyers.

Southeast Asia property buyers and investors are expected to be increasingly targeted by the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning. They will be kicking-off promotions in more than 180 countries as well as preparing buying guides in commonly spoken languages including English and Chinese.

Although Turkey and other countries at the eastern end of the Mediterranean are very much off the radar for property buyers from Singapore and Southeast Asia, the country is expected to become more prominent and attract greater interest in the coming year.
