British overseas property investors were out in force last weekend at the A Place in the Sun property exhibition in London, although just one exhibitor from Southeast Asia was present to take advantage of the growing interest in overseas property from UK buyers.
More than 5,000 property buyers and investors – up 20 percent on last year’s figures – attended the show at London’s Olympia exhibition centre.
A number of projects in Pattaya, Thailand, were the recipient of strong interest. Exhibitor Knight Knox was showcasing a number of property developments in the Gulf of Thailand city, and was the only exhibitor to attend the event representing Southeast Asia.
Other developers from around the world were reporting high levels of interest.
"We were exceptionally pleased with the interest we had from clients," said Robert Edwards of Cerro Novo, with Alan Ogan of Orka Homes adding: "Another great show, many viewings already booked at the show. The market seems to be picking up."
Andrew Batt, PropertyGuru’s International Group Editor, was at the show. He said: “There was a definite buzz at the show, both from exhibitors and more importantly the buyers. Everyone I spoke to was saying how British buyers are looking at overseas property purchases in greater numbers. It’s just a shame that more developers and agents from Southeast Asia were not there to take advantage.”
