Malaysia has won the bid to host the World Urban Forum in 2018 and expecting 15,000 international visitors for the conference, which discusses urban living issues.

As announced by the country’s Minister for Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Abdul Rahman Dahlan yesterday from Seoul, South Korea, he said the forum will see international experts discuss issues of urban living, such as housing affordability and availability, urban wellbeing, urban legislation and real property financing.

“Thanks to (Prime Minister Najib Razak) for his acknowledged leadership in the international arena, I was told Malaysia was an easy choice,” said Mr Abdul Rahman in a Facebook post.

This is the second time an Asian country has been picked to host the forum. The 2008 World Urban Forum was hosted by Nanjing, China.
