Sting buys at Battersea Power Station

Pop star Sting, the former front man of 80s iconic band The Police, together with his wife Trudie Styler have purchased an apartment in the Battersea Power Station development (pictured),

The news was confirmed at a launch party held by Battersea Power Station at Canoe Studios in Manhattan, New York, where Sting performed for 300 guests. The party showcased the development, ahead of a global tour to exhibit the current commercial leasing and residential sales opportunities.

Trudie Styler commented, “The exciting development plans for the whole site are a great solution for the regeneration of an iconic London landmark which has been in decay for the last 30 years.

“We are both very pleased to be part of this new community and really look forward to making our London home at the Battersea Power Station.”

Rob Tincknell, Chief Executive Officer of the developer, who was hosting the party, said: “I am thrilled that Trudie and Sting have chosen Battersea Power Station as their London home and really hope they enjoy being part of this exciting development.

“The entire 42-acre Battersea Power Station site is now being transformed into a world-class destination, which will gather the best in class operators across the globe to create a unique place of which we can all be proud.

“We are now launching Phase 3 of the development, being stunning apartments designed by Gehry Partners and Foster + Partners.”

Sting performed songs from his new musical, The Last Ship, which recently opened on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre, and he also played classic hits such as Englishman in New York, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic, Fields of Gold, Message in a Bottle and Every Breath You Take.

The Battersea Power Station project is being developed by a Malaysian consortium comprising Sime Darby Berhad, SP Setia Berhad and the Malaysian Employees Provident Fund (EPF).
