A Municipal Services Office (MSO) will be set up as a single authority to coordinate various government agencies to focus on service delivery.
Agencies include HDB, Land Transport Authority (LTA), National Environment Agency (NEA), National Parks Board (NParks), PUB, Police, People’s Association (PA), and the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA).
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced this at the National Day Rally on 17 August.
“I am going to put it in MND (Ministry of National Development) but I will appoint Minister Grace Fu to oversee this Municipal Services Office, working with Minister Khaw Boon Wan,” PM Lee said.
With the new MSO, residents no longer need to contact specific government agencies when they have complaints or requests, especially on estate maintenance issues such as litter.
“We have to do better to bridge this inter-agency boundaries and to serve the public in an integrated way,” PM Lee added.
More details on the MSO will be revealed at a later date.
