Recognition for distinctive public housing designs

Six HDB estates stood out for their design elements this year.

The architectural consultants behind the estates will receive the HDB Design Awards for designing quality housing projects for Singaporeans.

Segar Grove and Commonwealth 10, designed by Surbana International Consultants, are among the winning projects.

“Both sites have different conditions and characteristics, such as varying land topography, shape and physical constraints. HDB worked in close partnership with our consultants to ensure that the potential of the sites is optimised, to achieve the best possible precinct for residents,” HDB said in a statement.

Completed in Oct 2013, Segar Grove (pictured) in Bukit Panjang is Build-To-Order (BTO) project designed with a consistent theme of greenery.

Commonwealth 10, on the other hand, is a SERS replacement project in Queenstown, with a design that relates to its historical and urban context.

The other winning projects are Limbang Green, and three to-be-built projects; Punggol BayView, Waterway View, and The Verandah @ Matilda.

Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan will present the awards to the winners during the HDB Awards ceremony on Wednesday.
