Lake Life won't be another cookie-cutter condo

The new Lake Life executive condominium (EC) in Jurong Lakeside will open for e-application on 4 October.

Developed by a consortium led by Evia Real Estate, the 546-unit project is expected to stand out for its smart home features and sustainable living concept.

Notably, it could become the first condominium in Singapore to run a driverless electric shuttle to the nearby Lakeside MRT station, subject to approval from the Land Transport Authority (LTA). The consortium announced it will be working with NUS/MIT and SHADO to develop this technology.

Anticipating a future whereby electric cars will be the norm, there will also be a parking bay provided with charging station within the residents’ carpark.

At the same time, all apartment units will be equipped for Intelligent House Control System, while common areas will be designed with free Wi-Fi.

Three months ago, Jurong Lake District was designated a test bed for Singapore’s initiative to become the world’s first smart city, and the developer is keen on the idea.

“We are embracing the smart city initiative. We may be launching sales of the project today, but we are providing the infrastructure and features for the smart city of tomorrow,” said Vincent Ong, Co-Managing Director of Evia.

Recently, the Jurong area made headlines after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced comprehensive plans to transform the region in his National Day Rally Speech 2014.

A new Jurong Lake Gardens will be created by combining the Japanese and Chinese Gardens as well as the Jurong Lake Park. A new Science Centre will also be built adjacent to the Chinese Garden MRT station, to be completed around 2020.

Meanwhile, the 99-year leasehold Lake Life EC will likely obtain TOP in 2018. Comprising two- to four-bedroom units, the majority are three-bedrooms with sizes ranging from 1,087 to 1,324 sq ft.

Earlier reports said prices will be below $900 psf.
