West Coast CC to be upgraded, extended

The West Coast Community Centre (CC) will be upgraded in Q1 2015 to provide better facilities targeted at young families, youth and children with special needs, according to media reports.

It will include a new extension building with a new sheltered basketball court, a mini-theatre, and a playground for children with special needs.

The CC will also be connected to West Coast Plaza, and the West Coast hawker centre via sheltered wheelchair-friendly link bridges.

It will also be bridged to the upcoming Active, Beautiful and Clean Community Deck to be built over Sungei Pandan Kechil Canal.

Speaking at the launch of the centre’s upgrading programme on 4 January, Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC S Iswaran said, “The community centre must be a place which brings all segments of the community together. We have diverse needs and certainly children with special needs are one aspect of that, and also seniors and the parents who come with the children.”

Located along Clementi West Street 2, current facilities at the West Coast CC include a badminton court, basketball court, dance studio and roof terrace.
