SG construction standards

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has revised the tender evaluation framework for government construction projects by increasing the productivity weightage to 10 percent of the total score, reported The Business Times.

The revised framework will be fully implemented from January 2016.

This will allow builders with good productivity records in their previous projects as well as investments in technology adoption and workforce development to have an advantage when tendering for government projects.

Meanwhile, BCA has also launched a $2.6 million fund for research institutes and industry players to develop game-changing construction technologies.

Research projects will be centred on solutions to drive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) within the sector and enhance integration across the construction value chain – or areas that BCA has been championing via its second Construction Productivity Roadmap unveiled earlier this year.
