Letter to the editor: More ways to drive construction productivity

SG construction standards

Dear Editor,

I just read your article with interest (BCA revises tender evaluation process for government projects).

I think it’s a good move on the part of BCA to evaluate builders based on productivity records, due to little improvement in methods of achieving productivity in Singapore.

I am a major supplier of pest control services to the construction industry, and introduced productivity in my company in 2004. Since then, our results have improved year after year.

I strongly urge BCA to evaluate builders who also engage suppliers that have productivity programmes in place to enhance effectiveness, use of manpower and resources to achieve optimum results, similar to builders having to or encouraged to engage ISO 9002 certified suppliers to provide products or services.
