Pasir Ris paved with cycling path, infrastructure

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) launched new cycling paths in Pasir Ris yesterday.

The will add another 9.3 km to the existing network in Pasir Ris Town, bringing it to a total of 13.3 km of cycling paths. New cycling infrastructure to boost safety for pedestrians were also built.

“The completion of Pasir Ris cycling path network will greatly enhance connectivity and safety for the residents. Besides putting in place the necessary infrastructure, we are also working towards developing a set of rules and norms for cycling conduct and behaviour,” Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Health, and Chairman of the Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety Committee, Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim said at the launch.

“With these in place, I believe more people would find it safer and more convenient to cycle as a mode of transport, especially for short trips within the HDB town,” he added.

Pasir Ris residents can cycle from their homes to Pasir Ris MRT station, bus interchange, White Sands shopping centre and other amenities within the estate.

They can even ride to neighbouring towns such as Tampines and Changi Village through the park connectors.

Other HDB towns with their very own network of intra-town dedicated cycling paths are Tampines and Sembawang, as part of LTA’s plans to build intra-town cycling path networks spanning over 700 km in all HDB towns by 2030. Residents in Yishun, Taman Jurong and Changi-Simei can expect the cycling path networks to be completed by this year.
