Crane topples

A crane at the construction site of the upcoming Ecopolitan executive condominium (EC) in Punggol toppled over on Tuesday evening, according to media reports.

This follows a similar incident last week in Potong Pasir, where a large crane at the construction site of the upcoming Sant Ritz condominium crashed into the front porch of a semi-detached house across the road (pictured).

In the latest incident, a spokesman for the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) revealed that while a worker suffered minor injuries, no fatalities were reported.

The spokesman added that the EC’s developer Qingjian Realty had contracted Qingdao Construction at the worksite.

MOM is currently investigating the incident and all lifting work at the site has been stopped.

Set to be completed in 2016, Ecopolitan is a 99-year leasehold project comprising 512 units and is located near Punggol MRT station.
