Woodlands Monastery

A new Buddhist monastery will soon rise in Woodlands featuring a medical clinic, library and restaurant, media reports said.

Located at the junction of Woodlands Drive and Woodlands Avenue 6, the five-storey complex is set to be completed by end-2016. It will be run by Buddhist group BW Monastery.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held yesterday at the site, with National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan in attendance.

BW Monastery revealed that the new facility is part of expansion plans to support its growing membership, which has climbed to 3,500. The group’s headquarters is currently located at the Citiraya Centre in Lorong 27, Geylang.

With the new monastery, membership is expected to grow to around 5,000.
