Hi Valerie, I have met countless owners who have put up their own units for sale initially and ended up transacting their sale through a real estate salesperson. It maybe a considerable sum of money involved in terms of the commission, however, most property sales will result in positive sale and the sales proceeds are usually much more significant than the sales commission paid out to salesperson. The logical explanation is simple that as an owner, your 1 advertisement is against the many advertisements posted by the professionals and a private condo buyer will usually not be paying any commissions for transactions, therefore they usually have no qualms in following salespersons who brings them out for shopping.
