Do I have to pay to replace an electric hob that is still functional but looks worn after two years of normal use in a rental condo?
——
Hi, I am currently renting a condo and planning to move out soon as my contract is ending. During the inspection, my landlord mentioned they would charge me to replace the electric hob because it is dirty and doesn't look as good as when I moved in. They claim I haven't maintained it well, but I believe we took reasonable care of it. The hob is still fully functional, and both the agent and I see the current condition as normal wear and tear from living in the condo for two years.
The hob was brand new when I moved in since the condo was new. In this situation, do I have to pay for the entire cost of replacing the electric hob? Is this considered my responsibility, even though it is still working and doesn't appear significantly?
